The reality of unsafe abortion

Of the eight Millennium Development Goals, the fifth – to reduce maternal deaths by 75% and achieve universal access to reproductive health – is the most off track and the majority of countries will not meet this target. In the developing world unsafe abortion is a major cause of maternal deaths, accounting for at least 13% on a global level.
