Vaccination Mission:

Calcutta, India – Radha Das (left), an accredited social health activist, applies Hepatitis B vaccine to a two-month-old child at a rural health center. The National Rural Health Mission seeks to provide effective healthcare to the rural population throughout the country.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is a technical agency which collaborates with Member States in their health development efforts by providing technical support, as they Êaid India in supplying vaccines and medicinesÑlike Vitamin A. In India the under-five mortality is 69 per 1,000 live births and 410,000 children die annually just from pneumonia. Through this vaccine mission the Government tries to reduce child mortality rate in India.
