Every Woman Every Child // @UnfEWEC
Launched by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon during the United Nations Millennium Development Goals Summit in September 2010, Every Woman Every Child aims to save the lives of 16 million women and children by 2015. It is an unprecedented global movement that mobilizes and intensifies international and national action by governments, multilaterals, the private sector and civil society to address the major health challenges facing women and children around the world. The movement puts into action the Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health, which presents a roadmap on how to enhance financing, strengthen policy and improve service on the ground for the most vulnerable women and children.
Mark Tuschman Photography // @marktuschman
Mark Tuschman has been a corporate, international, location photographer for 35 years. Since 2001 he has devoted his energies to the issues of world-wide health care, particularly those regarding women’s reproductive healthcare.
All of the photos used for this year’s #MDG456Live campaign were generously donated by Mark. For the past decade he has been on a mission to document the lack of autonomy that millions of women in developing countries have over their own lives and bodies. Through his photography, he is bringing these women and their stories to the forefront of global consciousness. Please support Mark’s mission by preordering a copy of his new book, Faces of Courage: Intimate Portraits of Women on the Edge, here [link coming soon].
Thank you to all of the organizations below for supporting and providing content for #MDG456Live.
