This paper emphasizes the importance of connecting our understanding of secondary education with the realities of adolescent development in the context of the developing world. It aims to provide a starting point and guidance to policymakers, school administrators and educators to reconceptualize secondary education, especially in developing countries, by incorporating our understanding of how adolescents learn and develop.
