This report describes FHI 360’s Indicators for Success framework, with a focus on lessons learned from five middle schools around the country that have put the framework into practice. AED/FHI 360 developed the Indicators for Success to support schools through the design and implementation of an early warning and response system that helps identify middle grade students at risk of becoming dropouts and effectively guides them back on track to high school graduation.

These case studies provide much insight into the importance of schools customizing the Indicators for Success implementation, while maintaining the core aspects and validity of the model.
