Friday’s thought-provoking plenary began with representatives and allies of the trans community taking the stage to demand trans people’s voices be heard and recognized. The plenary proceeded to examine the challenges in the ‘gap’ that must be addressed in the movement to end HIV. From an era of hopelessness to one of great promise, there has been remarkable progress in stemming the tide of HIV. Yet deeply rooted challenges persist that highlight the gap between our vision and reality. Speakers included: Noël Gordon of Human Rights Campaign, Dr. Sorana Segal-Maurer, Director of The Dr. James J. Rahal, Jr. Division of Infectious Diseases at New York-Presbyterian, and Bryan Stevenson, Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative.
