The Nigeria Reading and Access Research activity, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is evaluating an approach to teaching Hausa reading in the early grades. The reading approach is being tested in a sample of schools and teachers in Sokoto and Bauchi states. The results of the research, conducted by RTI International in close collaboration with Nigerian government partners, will inform the development of effective strategies for improving reading in early primary grades.
